Dr. Alismaili obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. She further advanced her specialization in pediatric kidney care through a Fellowship in Academic Pediatric Nephrology at McGill University in Canada. Committed to both clinical excellence and healthcare leadership, she also completed an Executive Master's in Healthcare Administration at Zayed University, UAE. In addition, she holds a Specialist Certificate in Pediatrics (RCPSC Pediatrics) and a Subspecialty Certificate in Nephrology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Throughout her career, Dr. Alismaili has demonstrated strong leadership in advancing pediatric nephrology services and improving patient-centered care. She established a child-friendly pediatric dialysis unit, recognized as a leading model in enhancing patient experience. She has also contributed to innovative patient education and awareness programs aimed at improving the quality of life for children with chronic kidney disease. In addition, she played a key role in increasing kidney transplant volumes for both pediatric and adult patients and was instrumental in developing the first Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program, supporting the training of future specialists. As a Chief Medical Officer, she successfully led multidisciplinary healthcare teams through the post-COVID recovery phase, rebuilding community trust and restoring essential clinical services.
Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Alismaili served as Consultant Pediatric Nephrology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 2010 to 2024, and as Acting Chief Medical Officer at SKMC from 2022 to 2023.
Dr. Alismaili’s scope of practice includes the evaluation and management of hematuria and proteinuria, pediatric hypertension, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease stages one to five, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, tubular disorders including renal tubular acidosis and Bartter syndrome, renal stones, hereditary kidney diseases such as Alport syndrome, cystic kidney diseases including autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, systemic diseases with renal involvement such as lupus nephritis, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base imbalances. She also specializes in the management of renal replacement therapy, including peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and pre- and post-kidney transplant care.
Dr. Alismaili has more than 19 years of medical experience, including 15 years in Pediatric Nephrology.
