Dr. Gowraiah obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Kuvempu University, India. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Pediatrics at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India, building a strong foundation in pediatric care before advancing into subspecialty training. He further pursued a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia, Canada, strengthening his expertise in complex respiratory disorders in children.
In recognition of his advanced clinical training, Dr. Gowraiah was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Pediatrics and the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Pediatric Respiratory Medicine by the General Medical Council, UK. He is also a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), UK. In addition, he completed the Pediatric Sleep Technology Training Program with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in 2013, reflecting his focused interest in pediatric sleep and respiratory medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gowraiah has contributed significantly to clinical leadership, education, and professional governance. He served as Chairman of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) in 2018 and has played an active role in healthcare regulation as a Department of Health (DOH) Healthcare Specialty Licensing Examination Panel Member and a DOH Pediatric Asthma Guidelines Committee Panel Member.
Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Gowraiah served as Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology and Head of Sleep Service at Yas Clinic / Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Dr. Gowraiah’s scope of practice includes asthma and wheezing disorders, chronic and persistent cough, pneumonia and chest infections, bronchiolitis, croup, bronchiectasis, allergic rhinitis, cystic fibrosis, sleep-related breathing disorders including snoring and sleep apnea, long-term respiratory care including ventilatory support and tracheostomy management, and bronchoscopy services.
Dr. Gowraiah has 23 years of medical experience in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology.
Dr. Gowraiah’s field of expertise includes pediatric respiratory medicine, complex airway disorders, asthma management, recurrent and chronic respiratory infections, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, pediatric sleep disorders, sleep-disordered breathing, bronchoscopy, and long-term respiratory support for medically complex pediatric patients.
