Education

Dr. Al Ani obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sharjah, UAE, before completing his residency training in Pediatrics at prestigious institutions in both Abu Dhabi and Canada. He finished an ACGME-I accredited residency program in Abu Dhabi before working as a specialist pediatrician in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care. His passion for pediatric medicine stems from his extensive training and experience in this field, both in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Canada.

He then furthered added to his expertise through by completing the a Royal College of Physicians of Canada certified Pediatric Residency program at Queen’s University and Kingston Health Sciences Center. He also and obtained Certification and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada (FRCPC).

Experience

Dr. Rami Al Ani has over 12 years of pediatric experience.

Dr. Al Ani’s commitment to medical education and research is evident through his involvement in various academic endeavors, including being an adjunct assistant professor at Queen’s University, co-founding the Mafraq Pediatric Club and actively participating in research projects aimed at advancing pediatric medicine.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Al Ani is a passionate advocate for pediatric healthcare improvement. He co-founded “Internationally trained physicians in Ontario (ITPO)”, an advocacy group working with Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to utilize immigrant workforce in healthcare to improve access to healthcare in Canada.
Additionally, Dr. Al Ani has served on various committees and boards focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and graduate medical education.

His compassionate approach to care, coupled with his comprehensive understanding of pediatric care, enables him to provide tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child and family. He has a keen interest in optimizing patient care outcomes and has contributed to the development of protocols for the hospital-wide use of advanced medical technologies, such as hospital wide protocol for pediatric use of High Flow Nasal Cannula at Mafraq Hospital. Dr. Al Ani’s commitment to excellence in patient care is further underscored by his American Board certification in Medical Quality.

Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat Hospital, Dr. Al Ani worked as an attending pediatrician at Kingston Health Sciences Center and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Al Ani’s scope of practice covers a wide range of conditions including common medical conditions and mental health concerns. His inpatient experience encompasses acute and complex care, where he demonstrates exceptional clinical acumen and dedication to optimizing patient outcomes. With proficiency in newborn care, Dr. Al Ani is experienced in newborn health, including the care of premature infants, ensuring their healthy development and well-being.
