Dr. Irshad obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Master of Surgery in Orthopedics (MS Ortho), and Diploma in Orthopedics (D Ortho). He has extensive training and experience in Orthopedics across leading healthcare institutions in the UAE and the Al Dhafra Region. He has worked in tertiary, secondary, and specialized orthopedic care settings managing both adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. His clinical exposure includes advanced orthopedic trauma management, infections, deformities, ligament reconstruction, arthroscopy, and limb reconstruction procedures.
Dr. Irshad has extensive experience in pediatric orthopedics with subspecialty focus on traumatic, congenital, developmental, and neuromuscular conditions in children. He is highly experienced in hip ultrasonography for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), Ponseti casting for clubfoot, and management of pediatric foot and ankle conditions including flat feet and clubfoot.
Dr. Irshad has actively contributed to academic and scientific advancement in Orthopedics, with multiple publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and has participated as a speaker at national and international orthopedic conferences.
Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Irshad worked as Orthopedic Consultant, Head of Surgical Division and Deputy Medical Director at Global Care Hospital, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He also worked as Consultant Orthopedics at Madinat Zayed Hospital, Al Dhafra Region (SEHA Managed), where he contributed significantly to the establishment and development of Pediatric Orthopedic Services and supported its alignment as a tertiary referral center in collaboration with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. He further worked as Consultant Orthopedics at Paley Middle East Clinic, Burjeel Medical City, where he managed complex adult and pediatric orthopedic cases alongside internationally renowned orthopedic experts from the United States. Additionally, he served as Consultant Orthopedics at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, where he focused exclusively on pediatric orthopedic care in a tertiary healthcare environment.
Dr. Irshad’s scope of practice includes adult and pediatric trauma, limb deformity correction, congenital and neuromuscular conditions in children, hip ultrasound for developmental dysplasia of the hip, clubfoot management using Ponseti technique, flat foot correction, bone infections, osteoporosis management, and arthroscopic procedures.
Dr. Irshad Ahmad Waheed has more than 30 years of medical experience in Orthopedics.
Limb lengthening procedures using external fixators and internal lengthening devices, bone transport techniques, ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery of major joints, pediatric orthopedic deformity correction, complex trauma reconstruction, foot and ankle corrective procedures, hip dysplasia management, and advanced reconstructive orthopedic procedures.
