Dr. Sanka earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from NTR University of Health Sciences, India in 2001. Following his graduation, Dr Sanka moved to the UK to pursue further specialty training in Pediatrics at the NHS England. He worked across various prestigious teaching hospitals in the UK including Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, Norfolk and Norwich University hospital, Royal London Hospital, Kings College Hospital, Birmingham and Manchester Children’s hospitals and Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Sanka was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2012.


Dr. Sanka has been a Diplomate in Child Health of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow since 2004. He was also elected to the Membership of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health in 2006. His pediatric training included experience in acute pediatrics, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, pediatric and neonatal intensive care.

He also worked as a Consultant Pediatrician with special interest in Cardiology and Neonatology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, EoE, UK in 2016.

Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr Sanka worked as a Consultant Pediatrician at Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital, Abu Dhabi.

Along with his vast experience in acute and general Pediatrics, Dr Sanka has an additional special interest in Pediatric Cardiology. He holds certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography awarded by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging- EACVI.

Field of Expertise:

All Acute and Chronic general pediatric conditions. Fever, common childhood infections, Asthma, toddler wheezing, GI problems – abdominal pain, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, milk allergy, failure to thrive, other simple allergic conditions, eczema, bedwetting, growth and developmental assessment and Immunizations.

Special interest in Cardiology: Assessment of children and infants with suspected heart disease, heart murmurs, symptoms of fainting, chest pains, palpitations, Management of children and infants diagnosed with congenital heart disease, Pediatric and neonatal echocardiography, Acquired heart disease in childhood, Echocardiographic screening in patients with family history of congenital heart disease / cardiomyopathy / genetic conditions etc.
