Dr. Shoman obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, in 2004. He then underwent specialty training in Otolaryngology in Head and Neck Surgery at The University of British Columbia, Canada from 2005 till 2009. Subsequently, he completed a two-year of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) fellowship in Otology/Neurotology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center – University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio, United States, from 2009 till 2011. Dr. Shoman is certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPSC) in Otolaryngology. He is also dual certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) in both Otolaryngology and Neurotology.
Dr. Shoman is a member of various international organizations including the American Neurotology Society (ANS), North American Skull Base Society (NASBS), Politzer Society for Otologic Surgery, and the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology. Dr. Shoman has served on various national and international committees including the Canadian Infant Hearing Task Force (CIHTF).
Dr. Nael Shoman has 18 years of clinical and surgical experience in Otolaryngology. Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Shoman worked as a Staff Otolaryngologist at the Associate Professor level at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada, where he was also a surgeon member of the Halifax Cochlear Implant Program and the multidisciplinary Maritime Lateral Skull Base Clinic.
Pediatric and adult otolaryngology, complex ear surgery, hearing loss, dizziness and balance disorders, cochlear implants and other implantable auditory devices, facial nerve paralysis, and skull base surgery.
