Dr. Khan graduated and obtained his MBChB Degree from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom in 2009. Following his graduation, he pursued his national training and practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the West Midlands Deanery in the UK working across various renowned hospitals such as Royal Stoke University Hospital, Birmingham City Hospital, and Birmingham Women’s Hospital from 2013 till 2020. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Khan was awarded the British Board Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Dr. Khan was awarded his Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2018. Thereafter, he completed both the RCOG-accredited Advanced Training Skills Modules specializing in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery for the Excision of Benign Disease and Benign Gynaecological Surgery: Hysteroscopy, in 2020. The following year, he earned his Master’s Degree in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery from the University of Bologna in Italy.
Dr. Khan has 10 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is joining us from HealthBay Women’s Care in Dubai, where he was a Consultant Gynaecologist since February 2023. Prior to this, he was a Consultant Gynaecologist and BSGE Accredited Endometriosis Centre Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, from July 2021 until January 2023.
In his new role at Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Khan will be working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Dr. Khan’s scope of practice covers laparoscopic surgeries comprising advanced procedures for Grade 4 Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis, including bladder, bowel, diaphragmatic and extra-pelvic endometriosis, complex pelvic adhesions, and the frozen pelvis, excision of endometriosis and adhesiolysis, myomectomy for fibroids across all sizes, hysterectomy for uteruses of varying sizes, and day-case surgeries including day-case laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies. His strengths also include setting up a multi-disciplinary team and surgical planning for complex endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain in collaboration with Urological Surgeons, Colo-rectal Surgeons, and Pain Management Anaesthetists. His scope of practice also covers hysteroscopic surgeries including advanced procedures for removal of uterine fibroids, polyps, and adhesions, management of Asherman’s Syndrome and congenital uterine anomalies including septate uteri, as well as day-case procedures including hysteroscopic resection, and outpatient hysteroscopic surgeries including MyoSure and TruClear.
He is skilled in Menstrual Management including the management of Adenomyosis and managing abnormal uterine bleeding and painful periods, with techniques like IUS or IUD insertion under ultrasound, handling of complex menstrual disorders such as heavy menstrual bleeding, inter-menstrual bleeding, post-menopausal bleeding, and endometrial ablation methods like NovaSure, Thermablate or Librata, and the management of uterine fibroids using MRI uterine topography. He is well-versed in Fertility and Reproductive Health matters including unexplained subfertility, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent early miscarriages, cervical incompetence and treatments such as laparoscopic transabdominal cervical cerclage, addressing complicated subfertility issues, with referral for assisted reproduction, including anovulatory subfertility, tubal subfertility, and the laparoscopic treatment for endometriomas in preparation for egg collection.
He has developed a surgical repertoire which extends to Cosmetic Gynaecological Procedures including vulvo-vaginal rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments, including radio-frequency, hyaluronic acid injectables, topical treatments, and PRP therapy, and cosmetic surgeries like labial modification. He also has experience dealing with Sexual Health Dysfunction including treatment of conditions like recurrent vulvodynia, vaginismus, and sexual dysfunction with interventions like Botulinum Toxin.
