Endometrial tissue is a tissue that lines the uterus. In some women, there might be a buildup of this tissue in other parts of the body, most commonly in the pelvic area. This buildup is known as endometrial implant and the disorder is known as endometriosis. In normal cases, endometrial tissue is expelled out of the body during menstruation. When the buildup of this tissue is outside the uterus, then it cannot be expelled out. Hence, lesions are formed by an endometrial implant which gradually grows and affects functions of the body.
