CT Scan: 128 MSCT (Multislice Computerized Tomography)
128 MSCT provides coverage, speed, power and resolution, which enables our physicians to capture images of the body in few seconds, something which no other CT system can offer.
Our CT services
Our CT scan room at Danat Al Emarat Hospital in collaboration with HP and GE is made to make the experience comfortable and friendly to minimize the stress and the fear of isolation especially for our children patients. Using the latest technology with 128 slices per rotation (GE Revolution Evo), our CT scan makes the experience faster and smoother for our female patients and children. Our full array of CT services includes:
- Non-Invasive evaluation of blood vessels (angiographies), both peripheral & Coronary CT Angiography as well as CT Calcium scoring in few minutes
- Full body CT in few minutes with sub-millimeter resolution
- CT virtual bronchoscopy and colonoscopy
- 3D reconstructed CT studies
Breast Imaging Unit: Mammography, US Imaging, US Guided Biopsies
Our Women’s Diagnostic & Breast Imaging Center provides comprehensive service inclusive of regular screening, and diagnosis for patients more likely to be at risk of getting breast cancer. Regular breast screenings help with detecting breast cancer in its earlier stages so the chances of treatment are better.
Proudly, we are accredited by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi as a screening center for breast cancer as well as cervical cancer.
Our full-fledged radiology department team in collaboration with our obstetricians & gynecologists, consultants, general surgeons and plastic surgeons, provide comprehensive service for screening, early diagnosis and surgical treatment for breast tumors.
In addition to our mammography scan, ultrasounds scan can be used to diagnose a condition and examine the breast, if lumps are found.
As per the guidelines of Department of Health Abu Dhabi, women 40 years and above with no risk factors should perform a mammogram every two years.
Parametric X-Ray (PXR) Unit
Our PXR Imaging Unit encompasses digital general x-ray machine, digital C-Arm machines for operating theatres and digital mobile X-ray machine for our inpatients/NICU/PICU.
Fluoroscopy Unit
The unit provides HSG “Hysterosalpingography”, IVP, upper and lower GI fluoroscopy as well as speech related upper GI fluoroscopic examination in coordination with our unique speech therapy team. Fluoroscopy examinations use a constant series of X-ray images to produce a live video and are most commonly used to look at the digestive system.
Ultrasound (US) Imaging
Our full array of US services includes:
- Obstetrics & Gynecology imaging
- Small parts such as neck, thyroid or any superficial structures
- Musculoskeletal imaging
- Abdomen & pelvis
- Breast imaging
We also provide the full array of doppler services including:
- Peripheral Arterial Doppler
- Peripheral Venous Doppler for DVT, Venous Mapping in Varicose Veins
- Abdominal Vascular Doppler ex. Renal Arterial Doppler
- Carotid Arterial Doppler
Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Unit
Our BMD Unit is home to our advanced DEXA scan, a fully digitalized tool to investigate patients with suspected osteopenia/ osteoporosis (fragile bones). A DEXA scan is a quick and painless procedure used to diagnose or assess your risk of osteoporosis – a condition that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. Unlike ordinary X-ray images, they can measure tiny reductions in bone mineral density, making it possible to diagnose osteoporosis in its early stages, before fractures occur. The risks to health are much lower than X-rays as a DEXA scan uses a low dose of radiation.
General Imaging
Our General Imaging facilities provide x-rays to diagnose patients at all stages of care assisting physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Uro-Dynamics
This is used to study the functions of the bladder and the urethra in the storage and release of urine. Some of the tests include but are not limited to urinary incontinence, frequent urination, painful urination and sudden, strong urges to urinate but an inability to do so.
Cardiopulmonary screening
This screening is a diagnostic test to evaluate the cardiac function of a patient led by our cardiologists. The Bruce Protocol is usually used as the standard for this screening. The patient will start by walking, jogging and running on an incline while hooked up to a CTG machine. This will enable us then to perform x-rays including chest x-rays as well as fluoroscopy, which shows a continuous x-ray image on a monitor so that the movement of a body part can be observed.
Advanced Technology
Our Imaging Department at Danat Al Emarat is supported by Picture Archive Communication System (PACS), an advanced imaging and information system that provides clinicians with on-demand access to patient images on computer workstations, at the hospital and offices. This technology helps reduce the time needed to develop diagnoses, plan patient treatments and improve patient care.
Our Timings
Our regular working hours are Saturdays to Thursdays from 8am until 10pm.
The Department is also fully staffed 24 hours, seven days-a-week by a team of highly experienced and caring radiologists and technicians, to cater for urgent cases and for our inpatients.
