Biography
Dr. Yasmeen Yousef Sharkawy Ahmed is a highly experienced medical professional with 19 years of expertise in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Cairo University, Egypt, followed by an internship at Cairo University Hospitals. Dr. Yasmeen further specialized by obtaining a Diploma Degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Suez Canal University, Egypt, and a Professional Diploma in Ob/Gyn Ultrasound Program from the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. She also earned the Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (MRCOG).
In her professional journey, Dr. Yasmeen has made significant contributions, including monitoring quality and performing audits such as KPIs, developing guidelines, procedures, and flowcharts, supporting JCI accreditation for various healthcare facilities, and being actively involved in the training of internship doctors in the OBGYN Department.
Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Yasmeen served as a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medcare Medical Centre Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Yasmeen’s scope of practice encompasses a wide range of services, including:
- Antenatal care, with a focus on high-risk pregnancies
- Management of early pregnancy problems, including miscarriages (medical and surgical management)
- Conducting normal vaginal deliveries, instrumental-assisted deliveries, breech deliveries, induction of labor, and performing Caesarean sections (elective and emergency)
- Providing postpartum care, including managing postpartum hemorrhage, sepsis, and other complications
- Performing transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds
- Attending outpatient clinics (antenatal, postnatal, and gynecology) and managing emergency cases in obstetrics and gynecology
- Conducting cervical screenings, including pap smears and colposcopy with or without LLETZ
- Performing endometrial and vulvar biopsies
- Counselling patients on infertility treatments and providing contraceptive advice
- Carrying out minor OT and day-care procedures
