Education

Dr. Summia graduated from University of Dundee, United Kingdom in 2001 obtaining her MBChB degree and the Margaret Fairlie prize in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Following her graduation, Dr. Summia had her advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from 2013 to 2018 at Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW), UK. Upon completion of her training, she was awarded with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr. Summia also holds the degree of Doctor of Medicine (Research) from Imperial College London UK in 2010, Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from Cardiff University UK in 2016, and Postgraduate Certificate – Professional Practice (Clinical Leadership) from University of Wales Trinity Saint David UK in 2019.

Dr. Summia is a Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH) since 2009, and a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in UK since 2013. She also had successfully completed the Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) Certificate in Advanced Labour Ward Practice, Medical Education, and Labor Ward Lead from Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in UK.

Experience

Dr. Summia has more than 20 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, graduating from the University of Dundee in 2001. She is joining us from the University Hospital of Wales, United Kingdom, where she worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and held the roles of lead for Research and Development and Clinical Lead for obstetric services. She was also Honorary senior lecturer at Cardiff University and was awarded a Health care and Research Wales NHS time award.

Dr Summia is the Medical Director at Danat El Emarat and a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.

Dr. Summia’s scope of practice includes high risk Antenatal care, high risk intrapartum care including labor and delivery, post-natal care. Her interests include research on sepsis and induction of labor, Medical Leadership, Human Factors and MDT skills training.
