As part of its ongoing mission to redefine women’s healthcare, Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children, a member of the M42 group, has launched a pioneering service in collaboration with UK-based ProFaM: Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation (OTC). The service was officially announced at Arab Health 2025 in Dubai.
Unlike egg freezing, OTC is a hormone-free, minimally invasive procedure that involves freezing a small piece of ovarian tissue ideally before age 35. This tissue can later be re-implanted to restore hormonal balance, delay menopause or support fertility. It is especially beneficial for women undergoing cancer treatment, managing conditions like endometriosis, or seeking natural alternatives to hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Empowering Women with More Choices
This breakthrough service gives women greater control over their reproductive and hormonal health helping them maintain quality of life and plan motherhood on their terms.
“OTC meets a growing need and offers women a powerful tool to manage their health naturally,” said Dr. Summia Zaher, CEO and Medical Director of Danat Al Emarat.
Expert Care, Backed by Innovation
Led by Dr. Zahid Khan, Consultant Gynecologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon, the service will be integrated into elective laparoscopic procedures such as endometriosis surgeries. Preserved tissue will be stored for up to 15 years at Abu Dhabi Biobank under cryogenic conditions.
“This collaboration marks a new era in women’s health one that prioritizes long-term well-being and personal choice,” added Professor Simon Fishel, Co-Founder of ProFaM.
OTC reflects Danat Al Emarat’s vision to provide advanced, compassionate care helping women live healthier, empowered lives at every stage.
