Summia Zaher

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Summia Zaher is the Chief Executive Officer of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children, with over two decades of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Having previously served as the Medical Director of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children, Dr. Summia has played an instrumental role in influencing the future of maternal and reproductive healthcare in the region. As CEO, Dr. Summia’s strategic focus is on further elevating the quality of care, enhancing operational efficiency, and integrating cutting-edge technology to meet the ever-evolving needs of patients in Abu Dhabi and beyond.

Prior to joining Danat El Emarat, Dr. Summia served as a Consultant Obstetrician at the University Hospital of Wales, where she led research and development and held clinical leadership roles for obstetric services. Moreover, she was an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University, Wales, and was granted a Healthcare and Research Wales NHS Time Award.

Dr. Summia graduated from the University of Dundee in 2001 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), where she received the prestigious Margaret Fairlie prize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She furthered her specialization through advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) from 2013 to 2018, culminating in the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Her scholarly pursuits also include a Doctor of Medicine (Research) from Imperial College London (2010), a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from Cardiff University (2016), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (2019).

Additionally, Dr. Summia is a Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH) and a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), in London, United Kingdom. She has also completed her advanced training in Labor Ward Practice, Medical Education, and Labor Ward Leadership through the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
