Naema and Hissa the first newborns at Danat Al Emarat Hospital on New Year Day 2018

Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children in Abu Dhabi farewelled 2017 with the birth of six girls including a set of twins and four boys on the last day of 2017; while two Emirati newborns entered the world during the first few hours of New Year Day 2018.

The first baby girl born in 2018 was delivered by Dr Shakeela Irfan, Specialist Obstetrics & Gynecology at Danat Al Emarat hospital.   Dr Shakeela said, “the baby decided to join the family on this special occasion for all and double the joy of her parents. Both baby and mother are in good health.” The baby’s father, Mr. Khalifa Al Qamzi – UAE National, said “Joining us on the first day of Year of Zayed was a memorable surprise and our joy is now doubled. We named her Naema, and her siblings were waiting for her. It is a blessed year for us all – Year of Zayed.”

Family of Mr Abdulrahman Al Katheeri welcomed their daughter at 9 am of 1st January 2018. Mr. Al Katheeri, UAE National, said, “Our newborn is the third in the family and we named her Hissa. She was due to be with us on 28th December, but she waited for another three days to join us on this very special day. She was delivered by Dr. Shakeela Irfan, Specialist Obstetrics & Gynecology at the hospital. Welcoming our baby today, we have started the year with happiness and blessings on the first day of Year of Zayed, and from here I would wish our beloved country continuous prosperity and success.”

Vino Nallaya, CEO of Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children said, “We are happy to welcome the 12 newborns at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children on the last day of 2017 and first day of the New Year. All 12 babies and mothers are doing well and are in good health.”

“Including our 12 newborns, 6000 babies have been born at our hospital since the hospital welcomed the first newborn in October 2015; including 3100 boys and 2900 girls; of which 3365 were UAE Nationals.  All these precious bundles of joy were managed by our 75 medical team members of obstetricians, pediatricians and neonatologists. We expect to welcome another 6 babies by the end of today,” she added.

The hospital distributed flowers and gifts for all patients and children who are spending the New Year Day at the hospital.
